Director of R&D

DTI is seeking a Director of R&D who will manage our advanced engineering effort, primarily funded under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. DTI has a strong, ongoing SBIR portfolio, and a successful record of bringing SBIR technologies to market. DTI's R&D efforts are primarily focused on radar and high energy physics, with applications in ion implantation, power conversion, and food processing. This position will manage DTI's SBIR portfolio, and assist in transitioning new technologies to the market place.

Responsibilities:

• Manage DTI's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, from proposals through transition to Phase III and the marketplace.
• Manage the technical aspects of SBIR's, leveraging DTI's R&D activities across projects.
• Develop and monitor schedules and budgets for individual projects, ensuring projects are completed and delivered on time and within cost objectives.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated successful Project Management experience across multiple projects.
• Excellent writing skills, with experience winning SBIR proposals.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of federal government contracts.
• US Citizen or permanent resident

Education: Degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, MS / PhD / MBA preferred.
Experience: 10 years minimum
Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites required (domestic and foreign)
