Turn-key Transmitters

DTI builds turn-key transmitter systems for a wide range of radar and RF applications. Turn-key systems typically include all electronics from the power source to the VED or RF output device. DTI's solutions are fully solid-state, encompassing breakthrough high performance power supplies, pulse modulators, voltage regulation, and state of the art control systems.

DTI's turn-key transmitters are operating on ships, in terrestrial settings, and in transportable ISO-standard shelters.

Ship-based modernization includes the transmitters in both the Cobra Judy X-band system on the USNS Observation Island, and the Gray Star system, located onboard the USNS Invincible. In both of these U.S. Air Force data collection systems, DTI's solid-state switches are being used to replace obsolete tube technology, and significantly increase the reliability of these critical radar systems. In October of 2006, DTI completed an upgrade of the USNS Observation Island's phased-array S-Band transmitter that supports the radar's sixteen traveling wave tubes (TWTs).Significantly, since these transmitters were upgraded, not a single TWT failure or any downtime has been associated with the transmitters.

"Transportable" transmitters are those where electronics are housed within standard ISO shelters up to 45 feet in length. Though configurations vary with each transmitter, typically the shelter houses power supplies, high power amplifier, power distribution, air conditioning, tube stands, and transmitter controls. Some components may be located in a companion enclosure outside the main shelter. DTI has built X-band and S-band TWT transmitters housed in transportable shelters.
